Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Presentation

On January 27th, our sixth-grade students had the opportunity to participate in an important and timely presentation led by representatives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, focused on cyber security and digital safety.

During the 45-minute presentation, students learned about the responsible use of cell phones, social media platforms, and online gaming. A major focus of the discussion centered on the impact of clicking “send,” helping students understand that once something is shared online, it can be permanent and far-reaching. Presenters emphasized how impulsive or inappropriate messages, images, or comments can have serious and lasting consequences.

The presentation also addressed online safety concerns related to predators who may pose as peers in order to gain personal information from our students. Students were taught how to recognize warning signs, protect their private information, and make safe choices when interacting online. The presenters reinforced the importance of trusting instincts and reporting uncomfortable or suspicious online behavior to a parents, teacher, counselor, or anothet trusted adult.

Our sixth graders were fully engaged throughout the session. They listened attentively, showed respect to the presenters, and demonstrated maturity during discussions of these serious topics. The level of focus and participation reflected how meaningful and relevant the information was to their daily lives.  We are grateful to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office for partnering with our school to provide this valuable learning experience. Presentations like this play a vital role in helping students become informed, responsible, and safe digital citizens.
