Roosevelt School proudly kicked off Read Across America Week with an exciting and memorable celebration centered around the joy of reading! Our week began with a very special visit from none other than The Cat in the Hat, who arrived with the ever-energetic Thing 1 and Thing 2 to the delight of our students. Their lively entrance immediately set the tone for a week filled with imagination, laughter, and a love of books.
Read-A-Thon Success
Leading up to this special week, our students participated in a school-wide Read-A-Thon. Throughout the previous week, students dedicated time to reading both at school and at home, earning raffle tickets for their efforts. Their enthusiasm for reading was incredible! The raffle drawings added an extra layer of excitement, but most importantly, our students strengthened their reading stamina and celebrated the power of literacy.

Each day during Read Across America Week, our students enjoyed special guest readers from our Roosevelt School and Ridgefield Park community. These honored guests shared beloved stories that sparked conversation, laughter, and thoughtful reflection. Featured books included:

We were especially proud to welcome distinguished members of our community, including our Superintendent, a Ridgefield Park Police Officer, a local Firefighter, and our honorable Mayor of Ridgefield Park. Their presence reinforced the importance of reading not only in school, but throughout life.
Celebrating a Love of Reading
Read Across America Week continues to be a highlight of the school year at Roosevelt School. Events like these strengthen the connection between school and community while inspiring our students to become lifelong readers.
