Welcome to Roosevelt School:
A Commitment to Excellence and Community

Dear Roosevelt School Families,

I am both honored and excited to introduce myself as the Principal of Roosevelt School, a position I have held since August 2020. As I reflect on our rich history, I am proud to be part of a school with over 100 years of academic excellence. Throughout the years, educational philosophies have evolved, but one constant remains: our school continues to foster vibrant learners and outstanding educators who make learning meaningful, engaging, and relevant for all students’ future success.

The past few years have presented unique challenges, as we navigated the impact of the pandemic. During this time, our dedicated staff and resilient students transitioned to virtual learning, demonstrating extraordinary adaptability and determination. We are thrilled to be back in the classroom, where our teachers and staff continue to provide the highest level of support to our students—just as they have done for over a century.

At Roosevelt School, we offer a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience. We are proud to have two Pre-K classrooms as part of our commitment to supporting the district’s goal of providing universal Pre-K for as many 3 and 4 year-olds we can. Our K-3 teachers are skilled in delivering instruction across all subjects, while our grades 4-6 teachers work in a departmentalized structure, specializing in either Humanities (ELA and Social Studies) or Mathematical Sciences (Math and Science).

In addition to our classroom teachers, we have a remarkable team of specialists who support the whole child. These include Spanish, English as a Second Language (ESL), Physical Education, Special Education, Academic Intervention, Art, Music, Technology, and Gifted and Talented educators. Our dedicated support staff—comprising a Guidance Counselor, Nurse, School Psychologist, Speech, Learning Disability Teacher Consultant (LDTC), and Occupational Therapist—work collaboratively to address the academic, emotional, and social needs of all students. Additionally, our administrative assistant and custodial team contribute to the smooth operation of our school.

Our school is proud to serve a diverse student body, with children from a variety of backgrounds. It is our priority to meet the unique needs of every student. With the help of our highly-qualified staff, we strive to provide differentiated instruction, challenge our students with rigorous academic opportunities, and support their emotional and social development through positive role models and research-based initiatives.

We also believe in the importance of community involvement and recognize the essential role that our Roosevelt School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays in enhancing our school culture. By working together with families and stakeholders, we are committed to maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I look forward to partnering with you to make this a successful year for all of our students.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Mr. Jason Cata
Principal, Roosevelt School
