principal’s Message
Dear Roosevelt Family,
Welcome to Roosevelt School. We have a building that has over 100 years of teaching and learning to be proud of. While educational philosophies change throughout the years, these walls continuously embraced vibrant learners and excellent teachers who helped make learning enjoyable and relevant for future success. We have had some changes in the past few years with teaching and learning such as virtual instruction. I am proud to say that both our teachers were able to master the platform while our students demonstrated their resilience and ability to continue growth in a time when our American education system had to make a very quick change. Through that time, our teachers and staff continued to embrace your children the same way the school has for over a century.
Roosevelt School has a new Pre-K classroom in addition to our setting which is the same as the previous years. The Kindergarten through Grade 3 teachers instruct in every subject, and the Grades 4 through 6 teachers, who are in departmentalized settings, teach one content area: language arts literacy, mathematics, social studies and/or science. Other instructional staff includes Spanish, English as a Second Language (ESL), Basic Skills Instruction (BSI), physical education, special needs/education, art, music, computer technology, dance, speech and gifted and talented teachers. Other important staff members include a guidance counselor, nurse, school psychologist, learning disability teacher consultant (LDTC) and an occupational therapist. We also have an administrative assistant and a custodial crew who complete our strong staff.
Our school has many diverse students. They come from many different backgrounds, and it is our intent to meet the needs of each one. Through the efforts of a highly-qualified staff, we differentiate learning for each child, help them realize their academic potential with increased rigor and, finally, nurture their emotional and social growth with positive role models and research-based social awareness initiatives.
Dedicated to community involvement through a strong collaborative effort between the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), its stakeholders and the school itself, we will maintain a school learning and social environment with which we identify as a positive one.
Please feel free to contact me with any comments, questions or concerns.
Thank you.
Mr. Jason Cata
